- Window coverings - Save 10% on your heating bill.
- Most heat loss occurs through glass. Installing good curtains, blinds, and pelmet boxes can halve this loss.
- Ensure curtains reach to the floor and wrap either side of each window. Line curtains with blockout backing to prevent radiant loss and reduce summer glare.
- Use tightly woven materials, trapping air in multiple layers.
- Install pelmet boxes to reduce air circulation around windows.
- Use quality curtains and pelmets in combination with double glazing for maximum effect.
- Vertical and venetian blinds do not prevent heat loss. Instead, consider fully lined roman blinds or holland blinds that fit inside the window frame.
